True or False: Abortion Rates Down Are Down in NY

True! Abortions in New York State fell by 18% between 2008 and 2012. Meanwhile Monroe County, home to Rochester, abortion rates dropped by almost twice that-34%! The Rochester abortion trend reversal continues.

While abortionists are just as plentiful as they ever have been in Rochester, the number of women getting abortions is at its lowest point since the Department of Health began keeping records in 1970. And the women that CompassCare has helped to have their babies account for over 40% of the overall five-year reduction. That means that were it not for your investment in CompassCare’s lifesaving care, the Monroe County abortion statistics would be no different than the rest of New York State, the abortion capital of the U.S.

Rochester is considered an abortion hub, with approximately 25% of all pregnancies ending in abortion. If the numbers continue to drop as they have, we will see a 65% reduction in abortion rates from its recent 2008 high, in just five more years. Thank you for the investment of your time, prayer, and finances. The mission of erasing the need for abortion by transforming women’s fear into confidence is working.

It is because of the generosity of people just like you that CompassCare has been privileged to stay on the cutting edge of reversing the abortion trend. Through marketing, direct patient medical care, thorough follow-up, and  the training of other pregnancy centers, CompassCare is nationally recognized as one of the most effective pregnancy centers in the US.

CompassCare understands that when a woman faces an unplanned pregnancy she feels trapped, as if abortion is her only way out. She is torn between two seemingly conflicting tensions. The primary tension typically is, will she cling to her life as she knows it or allow her baby to continue living. Some feel the fear of not being able to provide the quality of life she thinks the baby should have.  Still others are torn between the guilt of having an abortion and the shame of her friends and family finding out she is pregnant. Only when a woman feels empowered to make the most difficult choice, to have her baby, is she truly making a free choice. Anything less is coercion, not choice. The services provided by CompassCare, and the manner in which those services are provided, are designed to give her a vision of her future after having a child.

CompassCare’s goal is to reach 100% more women than last year. And we are well on the way already seeing over 57% more women at risk for abortion in 2014 compared with the same time frame for 2013.

You are witnessing that for which we have prayed and worked for so many years together: reversal of the abortion trend! Thank you again for your investment in CompassCare. Please consider deepening your investment this year, as together we endeavor to reach even more women and save even more lives and accelerate the reversal of abortion rates in Rochester! “I’m So Glad My Friend Recommended CompassCare to Me!”

5 Stars

Women at-risk for abortion love CompassCare! On CompassCare’s in-house exit survey, women score their satisfaction with the services at 9.8 out of 10. Online CompassCare receives 5 stars out of 5!

Here is what some of them are saying: “Julie [the nurse] has been so helpful, informative and calming! I’m so glad my friend recommended you folks to me!” (B.A. December 10, 2013). “CompassCare has amazing nurses. I would recommend them to anyone dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. See CompassCare first!” (D.P. August 21, 2013). “The care here is excellent. Could not ask for better!!” (A.C. September 26, 2013).

Keep in mind that CompassCare does not perform or refer for abortion. It should also be noted that 95% of CompassCare’s patients are at-risk for abortion, and a majority of them have already made up their minds to abort. Despite the fact that CompassCare is not giving them what they think they need—an abortion—these women absolutely love their time in the office. Why? Because at CompassCare women are treated with dignity.

A woman facing an unplanned pregnancy feels alone, her life pressures driving her into isolation. She feels like she has no other choice, that she needs an abortion. Those pressures pushing her to get an abortion against her natural inclination are what the legal and medical communities describe as ‘coercive.’ When a person is coerced into making a decision, they are by definition not free and their dignity as an autonomous human being is trampled. CompassCare has created a service structure that intentionally shelters women from coercive pressure, providing real information and life-changing resources, giving her a vision of her future after having a baby.

One reason why patients love CompassCare is that we understand that abortion represents the opposite of medical care (see Hippocratic Oath). The purpose of medical care hasHippocrates 2 always been the good of the patient—to heal and maintain the health of a person—and there are two people in the case of a pregnant woman. Just because abortion was legalized by the US Supreme Court does not make it medicine or ethical. CompassCare services adhere to traditional medical ethics by protecting the woman and preborn child from hidden agendas and coercive circumstances.

CompassCare’s services are more important than ever as abortion moves toward the status of a full-fledged human right. If the default position of law is that abortion is an issue of women’s rights then refusing to immediately perform or refer a woman for abortion becomes an act of discrimination. This makes it very difficult for an ethical medical provider to have a meaningful interaction with her patient about what abortion might mean for her future reproductive health, for her developing baby, and for her emotional and spiritual well-being. Having open and honest dialogue about these things is what the larger medical community calls ‘informed consent.’ CompassCare is here to facilitate informed consent.

The services a woman receives are important. But just as important, if not more so, is the manner in which those services are provided. Treating a woman with dignity means we protect her autonomy, her ability to say ‘no’ to a procedure she never really wanted. She is a human being made in the very likeness of God. To dignify her is to respect her whole life: body, mind, and spirit. Simply giving her an abortion is a failure to respect her and in essence, dehumanizes her. This level of neglect masquerading as ‘women’s rights’ is a purely mercenary means to a dollar or a socio-political agenda.

Every time a woman chooses to have her baby, CompassCare wins, she wins, the baby wins, and the community wins.

Cuomo Didn’t Tell Pro-Lifers to Leave NY, Just That They Have No Place in NY

Cuomo pic The interview, heard by many now, with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo sparked a firestorm of criticism by shocked and concerned citizens whom he is supposed to represent. His aides released a clarification letter regarding the interpretation of his comments insisting that the Governor did not say, “conservatives should leave the State.” That’s true. What he actually said was that extreme conservatives have “no place in the State of NY.” (Start listening to the interview at min 9:20) Feel better?

Thankfully he did take the time to define those who he believed are conservative extremists. In his mind extremists have a religiously motivated belief in ‘the right to life’ (his words), or who are anti-gay (pro-natural marriage, perhaps?), or who are pro-assault weapon (um, maybe second amendment advocates, not sure). He said that these people seem to be one and the same representing approximately 30% of the New Yorker population. He gave no citation as to his statistics. To be clear, according to a 2013 poll half of New Yorkers self-identify as pro-life and a super majority 75-80% favor common sense restrictions on abortion. Also, there is not perfect overlap of views. Not all pro-lifers are pro-gun. Not all ‘anti-gay’ are pro-life. The point is that Cuomo is alienating a lot more than just 50% of New Yorkers saying those ‘extremist’ views have no place in NY.

Meanwhile back in 2013 and again in his 2014 State of the State address, Governor Cuomo promoted the total deregulation of abortion through the omnibus bill titled “Women’s Equality Act” which would permit abortions to be performed by non-doctors through all nine months of pregnancy while insulating abortionists from any responsibility if the abortion were botched while enshrining abortion as a fundamental human right up there with freedom of speech. Whose the extremist now?

But anyway, as the interview progressed, it was tempting conclude that he was speaking to the public since he was giving a public interview on the radio. But let’s give Cuomo the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was only talking to legislators who represent the people. It is just those type of extremest legislators who have no place in government. But in a representative government, government by the consent of the governed and all that, to say there is no place for the representation of the beliefs of the people is essentially saying that there is no place for those people. There is no getting around it. If elected officials are supposed to represent the people and the people are pro-life, pro-natural marriage, and pro-second amendment then those are exactly the issues those representatives should represent.

Instead we are left to conclude that according to Cuomo, elected officials should dictate the new morality and force it upon the population because there is no place in government for these good old fashioned, I mean extremist, views held by the majority. We are left to assume that those types of people are welcome to stay in NY just not be represented.

Ironically, he did go on to say in his interview that there is a place for the moderate republicans who control the Senate. If you recall it was those same Senators who blocked Cuomo’s abortion expansion bill last year. So maybe there is a place in the New York legislature after all, at least to protect the ‘right to life’ for the most vulnerable among us, the pre-born boy and girl.

Lend to the Lord: Proverbs 19:17

In the last five years over 10,000 women at risk for abortion have gone on to have their babies nationwide because of CompassCare! In fact, Monroe County, home of CompassCare, now has the lowest abortion rate in 40 years.

There is not enough room to list all the amazing things the CompassCare team has done in 2013. Suffice it to say that CompassCare continued its extremely high rate of performance in 2013. In fact, at the time of this writing CompassCare has helped at least 96 women seriously considering abortion have their babies in Rochester, and 13% of all women served committed their lives to Christ!

Success in reaching more women and helping more of them to have their babies is rooted in the desire to please God. We see in the Parable of the Talents that God expects a return on the resources He entrusts to us (Matthew 25: 14-30). But what does God consider a good investment? Jesus answers that question in the parable that immediately follows about the Sheep and the Goats in verses 31-46. The sheep enter in to the joy of their master, just like the faithful servants in the Parable of the Talents, but for a very specific kind of investment…people. When blessing the righteous sheep with inheritance of the kingdom he explains why: “For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me’” (Matthew 25: 35-36).

From God’s perspective, the only thing that can increase the value of our time and possessions is if they are invested in eternal souls, people. And since those eternal souls in which we are able to invest are more or less attached to temporal, physical bodies, how we treat them is an indicator of how well we understand and serve our King.

Further, it is not just any type of person God is asking us to serve. He is not just asking husbands to buy a dozen roses for their wives on their wedding anniversary. He is talking specifically about those that have no resources with which to protect themselves or ability to pay you back. He quantifies a good return based on our investment in individuals that have no other recourse, advocate or friend.

Think about it for a minute: Those that are hungry and thirsty are the poor without financial resources. The stranger is one who is socially marginalized. The naked are the demonized. The sick and imprisoned are those who have lost their physical freedom for whatever reason. Those people, the poor, the marginalized, the alienated, the sick and imprisoned represent the sinner’s position before a holy and righteous God. Jesus’ sole purpose for coming to this earth was to empty Himself of His resources for us, who were imprisoned to our sin-sick soul, without rights or standing in the Kingdom of God, spiritually emaciated. He died and rose from the grave in defeat of sin that we might be set free to go and do likewise.Gateway

“When Jesus had finished all these words [ in the Parables of the Talent and the Sheep and the Goats], He said to His disciples, ‘You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be handed over for crucifixion.’” (Matthew 26: 1-2). It is as if Jesus were saying, “What I just described as My expectation for the investment of your resources in those parables, I am going to do for you. I’ll show you what I mean. I’ll give you the power to do it in the Holy Spirit. Follow me.”

This investment in others is called redemption. The role we play as Christians ought to mirror that which Jesus played on our behalf at the cross. And the cross is not merely a good example, the story of some great teacher or martyr. No, it is the very gateway to the power of any and all true redemption. Any good we do investing in the lives of the people around us can only come from the power we have through the cross of Christ setting us free first. In America today the most marginalized are the woman facing unplanned pregnancy, coerced by fear, exploited by unethical abortionists, caught between what she knows to be right (having the baby) and the seeming impossibility of doing what’s right by herself. In America today, the most disenfranchised is the preborn baby deemed to have no rights as a person and no voice to speak on his own behalf. Who will speak for those children? Who will serve those mothers? Jesus did and His followers will too.

“Whoever Saves One Life Saves the World Entire”

America’s abortion laws are some of the most inhumane on Earth. European, South American and African countries all have stronger laws protecting pre-born children and their mothers. Knowing that America has altogether dehumanized the pre-born boy and girl encouraging an ‘anything goes’ mentality, the great challenge of our day may prove to be the greatest challenge of all time. We must accept this destiny as from the sovereign hand of God as we rise to meet this challenge with wisdom and courage. The cause of protecting the child and insulating the mother from coercive pressure falls to you and me. If there were ever a mission worth continuously improving, it is the mission of helping women at risk for abortion to have their babies.

to-the-dump-1-1005156-sWomen living in a throw-away culture like America’s are often defenseless against the pressure to abort an unplanned pregnancy. They are coerced with false time pressure, no information, misinformation, anti-family careerism, and posh standard-of-living expectations. Politics, education, medicine, media, and even sometimes and sadly the church conspire to justify this violent mutilation done upon her and her child. To dehumanize, like the Supreme Court did to babies in the Roe vs. Wade decision, in order to justify the destruction of that class of persons, degrades not just the babies and the mothers, but all of us. If we as humans do not place definitive value on each other as created just a little under God, then there is no end to the violence we will justify, legalize, and perpetrate to accomplish our selfish goals.

CompassCare empowers a woman with a vision of her future after having a child, standing not just for women and children but for all humanity. An ancient Hebrew teaching states that, success “Whoever saves one life save the world entire.” Unlike abortionists, CompassCare is marching to the beat of a different cultural drum having to fight to reach and effectively serve every single patient, each of whom is desperate for ethical medical care. Therefore, CompassCare must be brutally honest when assessing how its current services are reaching and serving women. After that the team develops a plan to modify existing services or add new ones to get even better at reaching and serving women at risk for abortion. That plan is then implemented. After that the team reassesses. This is CompassCare’s dedication. Because human life is worth every great thought and every small thought dedicated to protecting it. Protecting human life is worth the hard work and resources needed to improve existing services and it is worth taking the risk on a new plan that has never before been tried. So we constantly scan the horizon for opportunities; assess, develop, implement, reassess, and do it all over again to save just one more life. To say to the world, “This one life stands for us all under God and made in His image!”

Women don’t have abortions because the societies in which they live respect their rights or choice. Women have abortions because they are told in a thousand different ways that they are on their own. Women feel as though unplanned pregnancy is a life or death situation. She says to herself, “It is either my life or the baby’s life.” She feels that her life as she knows it will be over if she allows the pregnancy to continue. After all, abortion is not about choice but fear, not about freedom but society’s choice not to support women who find themselves pregnant.

So CompassCare seeks to erase a woman’s perceived need for abortion by transforming her fear into confidence with services and support that are relevant to her, now. And in a changing culture the definition of what is relevant changes and so must we. There is no improvement too small that CompassCare will not implement, like testing another online marketing track to reach a few more women. There is no innovation too big that CompassCare will not try, like adding a mobile medical unit to serve even more women. Every woman insulated and every life protected shouts the message that all human life is valuable and must be dignified with protection.

By God’s grace the abortion rate is coming down dramatically in Rochester. This is because of God’s grace in people like you, working sacrificially for the future of the human race. Changing a culture is always messy, unpopular, and uncomfortable work. But it is always worth it. Thank you for all you do to erase the need for abortion.

Thank God our time is now when wrong

Comes up to face us everywhere,

Never to leave us till we take

The longest stride of soul men every took.

Abortion Rates in Rochester at 40 Year Low!

Amazing! The number of abortions in New York State fell by 13% between 2008 and 2011. In Monroe County abortion rates fell by an astonishing 29%! Including non-residents, the number of at-risk women CompassCare helped to have their babies represents 31% of that reduction! Rochester is in the midst of an abortion trend reversal.

For more than ten years CompassCare has been striving to shake the foundation of the abortion industry and protect women and children by simply reaching 20-25% of women considering abortion. Why is 20-25% the magic amount? It is the estimated profit margin for the abortion industry. The theory is that if the profits were taken out of the abortion industry then abortionists would reduce hours and ultimately close due to lack of demand. Rochester represents an abortion hub. If the current trend continues, Rochester will see a 65% reduction in abortion rates from its recent 2008 high in just five short years. Thank you for the investment of your time, prayer, and finances. The mission of erasing the need for abortion by transforming women’s fear into confidence is working.Abortion Trend Reversal

It is because of the generosity of people just like you that CompassCare has been privileged to stay on the cutting edge of reversing the abortion trend.

When a woman faces an unplanned pregnancy she feels trapped, as if abortion is her only way out. Only when she feels empowered to make the most difficult choice, to have the baby, is she truly empowered to choose. Anything less is coercion, not choice. The services provided by CompassCare and the ways in which those services are provided are designed to give her a vision of her future after having a child.

CompassCare’s goal is to accelerate this exciting trend by reaching 100% more women than last year (just 193 more). Not only will the life-saving pregnancy platform and the Sexually Transmitted Disease testing and treatment services continue and be improved, but exciting new initiatives are being explored and developed such as:

1)    Abortion Pill Reversal: NYS Vital statistics reveal that 24% of abortions in Monroe County are now chemical abortions, using a drug called RU-486. It is expected that the use of RU-486 will increase significantly in the coming years. Many women regret their abortion after taking the first abortion pill and want to change their mind. CompassCare now offers a way for those women to save their pregnancy with research suggesting that 75% of these women will go on to sustain a healthy pregnancy and deliver a healthy child! This new service opens up a whole new vista of opportunity to accelerate the reversal by reaching 100% more women at risk for abortion than 2012!
2)    Mobile Medical Unit: Often women facing unplanned pregnancy have difficulty coming to CompassCare. The use of a mobile medical unit to take all the essential life-saving services on the road to meet the women where they are has worked in other abortions hubs. CompassCare is determining whether it will also work in Rochester, to help reach those additional women at risk for abortion.

We are witnessing that for which we have prayed and worked: reversal of the abortion trend!  Thank you again for your investment in CompassCare. Please consider deepening your investment this year as together we endeavor to reach and save those additional 193 women creating a snowball effect in the abortion trend reversal!

A Comprehensive Biblical Perspective on Abortion

Pregnancy Centers Serving More Abortion-minded Women–Executives Say, ‘Optimization Tool Works!’

CompassCare spent the last eight years developing and perfecting a system of marketing, care, and follow-up specifically designed to reach and serve abortion-minded women more effectively. After slow and methodical training and implementation in select medical Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRC) from California to New York one thing is clear: The Optimization Tool (OT) works!

And now it is time to shout it from the roof tops. Jesus says in John 9:4, “We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work.”

The OT has a proven track record (read case histories here) if implemented comprehensively to increase:

-Call volumes

-Schedule rates

-Show rates

-Percentage of abortion-minded patients

-Gospel presentation and conversion rates

-Number of women having their babies

Now the brave Pregnancy Resource Center executives who pioneered the Linear Service Model have made themselves available to you. Executives running organizations just like you are committed to coaching you through the Optimization process. Read executive coach profiles here.

With all that is happening at the State and Federal levels to take over health care as well as NARAL and Planned Parenthood’s effort to hinder the good work of PRCs the OT is more important than ever. The OT provides an objective system where women are served the same way each time in a manner consistent with traditional medical ethics (something abortionists cannot do). The OT provides a way to delivers services to more abortion-minded women, more effectively. The OT gives executives and boards a platform which serves not only to insulate your PRC from external threats but also gives you the sound foundation to be a public voice speaking out against the abortion industry’s egregious medical ethics violations. NARAL and Planned Parenthood will fear to confront you with bogus investigations because in so doing they will only uncover their own manipulative service strategy.

CompassCare, the pioneer of the Linear Service Model (LSM) for Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRC), is releasing all of its collateral to interested PRCs at NO COST! CompassCare is officially ‘Open-sourcing’ the Optimization Tool (OT).

Since 2004 CompassCare has carefully developed a Linear Service Model specifically designed to reach and serve the high risk abortion-minded woman. The group successfully transferred its model to specially chosen medical PRCs throughout the United States in both abortion and non-abortion hubs with dramatic results in increased effectiveness, gaining national attention.

CompassCare’s OT has a proven track record for helping PRCs reach more abortion-minded women and serve them in a way that helps them have their babies more consistently. CompassCare and its core group of executives who run their own highly optimized PRCs have determined that it is time to give every PRC the opportunity to ‘Optimize’ their operation so that more babies can be saved and more women can be insulated from the coercive pressure of life circumstances and the unethical practices of abortionists.
